The Possession (demonic?) of Personality February 5, 2010

The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot’s Strength card is called “Possession.”  As someone studying the nature of the multiverse and the nature of my triple soul, I’ve come to understand that Strength and Self-Possession are the same thing.  It’s a strong place to be, a place of simple and effortless dominance.  But things can upset that.

I’ve been in an upset of late because of this play submission assignment.  And I’ve been delving into the feelings as to why, and the thought occurred to me this morning and led to a waking dream wherein I was dissolved by a rainstorm whose drops vaporized the trees, the grass, the windows and of course myself.  I realized that I’ve been possessed by the Ego again, the pre-packaged False Self that has ordered me about in its sadomasochistic self-hating game.

The N.O.V.T. suggests that this is the possession that is the most dangerous, and that all the others pale in comparison.  It’s one thing to be possessed by Oya or Chango, but our civilized, brutalized, anesthetized, domesticated personalities hold a much more insidious toxicity over us.

And this awareness has helped clear a lot of gunk.  A lot of gunk also needs to be energetically cleared from the scripts occupying the filing cabinets in the back room.  A dignity needs to emerge from all this that has been long suppressed and diminished.  Yes. More work.  More is now required.
